Great Mid-country fuel stop

On our way back from OSH to Northern California, we refueled at Valentine, NE (VTN), and found a fellow ICS member. The airport is run by Robert Kilmer who has a nice 250, 7214P. The fuel was about the cheapest we found in that area. When Maggie decided to feather her right engine as she vapor locked on roll out, he helped get the prop unfeathered, and wouldn't take any money, even though he is an A&P and runs the FBO - Sandhills Aero.

I will definitely use them again as a fuel stop to OSH next year, or anytime I need fuel on the northern route.

On the way home I staged out of KRYV again. On departure I wasn't quite getting full power on the left engine, so I had their shop check it out. Turned out to be a lose intake coupling. They took care of that, cleaned the plugs and had me on my way in minimum time.

I thought they did a great job supporting our mass arrival, and they'd be a great Wisconsin stop for anyone on a long trip.

Valentine supported a MakeAWish air race organized by a 260 pilot former SR71 pilot Harlon Hain. Ken and I flew up to help. Valentine was a nice stop then too and glad to hear it hasn't changed.

Jay, good to hear on RYV, I just sent them a thank you email for their support. Even though we all bought gas, they sure went out of their way to facilitate the dinner and briefing. It also made life very easy to be able to walk to the hotel and restaurants. Zach et al choose well. Glad to hear you and James were well treated.
