Interested in trading up to non-turbo twin... Bravo or Charlie.

My 1962 PA 24-250 is a well loved, maintained, always hangared beauty, with a recent and extremely thorough annual by a Comanche specialist.

Engine is high time A1D5 that has compression in high 70's, clean oil sample, and very recent valve inspection. Has new and complete Airtex interior/soundproofing, call it a 9/10... and nice paint and exterior, say 8/10. No damage history, clean glass and original avionics in excellent working condition. IFR capable. Original auto pilot works but is cranky. Solid logs, current on all AD's and all big AD's recently completed. Aircraft is located in Boston area. Most of its life spent in the Colorado desert. A former Piper Company executive helped me find it years ago. Many upgrades over the years. Fast, smooth flyer. I'm a former Navy Carrier Pilot and maintenance Officer and have flown and maintained this aircraft with great care.

I'm interested in trading up for a like kind twin to someone who will continue to maintain and love this family aircraft as we have. Appreciate dealing directly with principals and ICS members who know and love their airplane. Numbers as follows:

Congratulations on your decision to go for a twin.
May I suggest you order the ICS/Doug Killough POH for you twin.

Also that you think about attending the CFF Comanche Pilot Proficiency Program (CPPP) coming up in Harrisburg, PA, w/e May 30.
We've a top notch program and instructors, and you'll receive a Quick Reference Handbook, (QRH), for your twin, with emergency and other procedures as part of the course material.

Funny thing as I was looking the photo of the plane over - the engines stopped their props in that I'm happy positions - I noticed a flat nose tire ... on further inspection, it was just cut off in the picture LOL

Remarked to husband and he laughed and said - no, it is the new flat tire for short field landings. LOL from Ken

Thanks everybody. Wouldn't be here without this website and the hundreds of times I have asked each of you for help and advice.

I absolutely recommend the trading process to keep our Comanches alive. Everybody is at a different place in life and trading Comanche's up or down in size is made much easier by familiarity with the airframe and the knowledge that the good people in ICS will be there to help. I've also found the handling and landing characteristics to be similar, as are the parts suppliers and mechanical support.

My seller wanted to slow down, fly shorter hops, use simpler systems, save a little gas and spend less on maintenance. I wanted to go faster, fly further and over water, and have enough room to haul the family around. I found dealing with fellow Comanche owners was uniformly a better experience. They knew what was important and what wasn't with respect to aircraft condition, and they were always big fans of the model so they didn't need to be sold anything. In short, they had reasonable, if not resolute, expectations about their next airplane. It wasn't without its challenges but it was well worth the effort.

Icing on the cake is also saving on some of the sales tax in most states,like any other type of trade.

At any rate, I've got a new challenge in learning this airplane that feels, in many respects, very familiar. It doesn't get any better than this!
