Cowl Piece

Cowl Piece

Postby Joshua Dickson » Sun Jan 12, 2014 12:49 am

Hi, I have a '59 Comanche 180 and am looking for the center cowl piece that sits right above the prop hub. Mine is pretty cracked and has already been repaired a couple times. Maybe someone has installed an Eagle or Wholly cowl? BTW, do those really make a difference?

Try Webco for the replacement part. Otherwise, I can't help you as I don't have a 180.

Salvage shops may also be a source - ASOD.com is a big ICS supporter.

On this website Home Page is a developing link to Hard to Find Parts with hotlinks - thanks to Dave Fitzgerald. You might try there also.

Try contacting Aviation Performance Products (Eagle Cowling) and see if they have some old cowls laying around you could get the part from. You may wish to talk to them about a cowling. I have had mine for 8 years and it is going strong. I got it for the reasons you have, a sadly worn out stock cowl with too many repairs, but I have enjoyed the performance enhancements and ease of maint. It also comes with new dual exhausts so if your exhaust system is a little long in the tooth you can factor that into the price. It's a little pricy but I think it is worth it to keep your plane flying!

Thanks Zach, The aftermarket cowl looks cool and I am glad you like yours, but 12k is ridiculous. I will try some of the salvage places. Thanks!

Joshua,

I think Zach was also recommending you call Aviation Performance Products (Eagle Cowling) to see if they might have some old stock cowls that were removed when the new cowls were put on.
