Wanted: Twin Comanche

Wanted: Twin Comanche

Postby David Pfeffer » Sat Sep 22, 2012 3:14 pm

Hey gang,
To my great disappointment, the three Twin Comanches I was looking at in Florida all fell through. I wasn't happy after performing a pre-buy on one, and other buyers beat me to the punch on putting a deposit on the other two. Hope they were at least ICS members!

I'm looking for a TC with mid-time engines with an asking price around $50k. This would be a project plane. I'm an A&P and Aerospace Engineer and love to rehab older planes in my spare time. I want to rehab a TC and keep it so I can get involved with mission flights to Haiti. Poor Avionics, paint, interior, or incomplete logs don't matter, but it does have to currently be airworthy (or close to it). They're definitely out there, I just need to find more. I've searched everywhere I can think of and haven't seen any others at the moment. If you hear of anything at your local airports, would greatly appreciate a heads up! :D I'm located in Jacksonville, Fl but am willing to travel anywhere for the right bird. You can PM me or reach me at David.D.Pfeffer@gmail.com

Thanks for the help!!

David,

Delighted to have you as an ICS member and future Twin owner. I'm envious of your skills and will be interested to hear the details of the restore effort once you get the twin.

I'll keep my ears open on your behalf - I'm assuming you've already looked at the ones at the back of the Flyer Mag and in Controller etc.

Check this out on eBay. The tirbo TC looks like it might meet your specs.

No, it is not mine & I know nothing about it.

The eBay TC is N7676Y owned by George Kenneth Hall since 2002. Looks interesting if you discount years since the last annual and needing paint. The current bid is $40K and that is probably about the right price...considering. Hard to know what is working and what is not. One would still need to go see it before making an offer. This TC was used for some sort of air survey work in AK and later in CA and has been modified for that purpose.

Are you still looking for a Twinkie? I have a 66 well maintained mid time plane that you may be interested in the mid 60’s. If so, send me your numbers and let’s talk. Fred :D
