Tip tank/ Aux tank solenoid

Tip tank/ Aux tank solenoid

Postby md11flyer » Fri Dec 16, 2011 1:37 am

A couple of weeks ago I had the opportunity to purchase some less expensive fuel
when I had my IFR recert done in Michigan. I filled the mains and auxs as well as 10 gallons in each tip tank.
Well when I returned to the hangar after a week, I found a nice blue stain under the left wing and even though I burned some fuel out of the aux tank
it was filled to the brim and more.
Anyway the tip was also at most only left with about 3 gallons in it. So adding 1 +1 I come up with a fuel solenoid that is stuck between open and closed or simply leaking past the
seals. Can these be rebuilt or are new ones the way to go?
Does any one have one lying about for sale?
I never did check to listen for the clunk when switching from tip to aux.. so not sure if its leaking seals or just bad solenoid... regardless need new or overhauled.

Thanks,
Gary

Try the cheap stuff first. Remove and thoroughly flush it out and then reinstall and see if that solves your problem. Osborne gets a mint for them.
