Need trim handle for 59 180

Need trim handle for 59 180

Postby kaber » Tue Aug 28, 2012 6:02 pm

Does anyone know where to find a new trim handle for a 59 180?
I think I read one time where it was used as a crank for a car window handle.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

I suggest you try any auto supply and then any salvage yard (aircraft or otherwise) as, yes, the handle was a door window crank.

Hi,

Have you tried Webco? I know they carry the door handles which are also automotive in origin.

Good luck, Don

FYI,

This is my suggestion.

If the trim handle is similar to the door handle. Look at the back and grooves. I would then go to the local auto parts store and buy one, about $10 bucks. It probably is a General Motors type. Next I would make a log entry signed by the pilot in command that the parts are no longer available and you made your own part. Also talk to your mechanic about the whole thing to get the proper wording. FWIW.

Thanks all,

I was hoping to find the year and make of automobile these specifically were made for. I remember from a long time ago it was mentioned but I never wrote it down. I did try one from the auto store however it didn't fit right and was sloppy on the spindle.

I believe a '58 Buick is the right model. If you want something a bit more updated, there is this option: http://wwww.aircraftspruce.com/catalog/ ... ements.php

You can try Ernest's salvage yard.
