Single to Dual Exhaust Conversion Question

Single to Dual Exhaust Conversion Question

Postby Pat Donovan » Fri Jan 13, 2012 6:45 pm

Hello,

I'm converting my 180 from a single to dual exhaust using Dave Pratt's system. My difficulty is the air intake for the left side heater muff that goes to the cabin is supposed to come off the lower cowl intake that also supplies the carburetor. Looking at the parts manual, Page 2E21, figure 25 of Section V, there are appears to be scoop coming off the top left of the intake. I'm guessing this was used on anything with factory dual exhausts and may be part number 24825-00 or 25996-00. [For info, the right heater muff supplies the carb heat and gets it's air from the top right rear baffle.]

So far I've not been able to get anything from a salvage yard. Can anyone provide a picture of their installation that I can work from?

I'm guessing an 'owner produced' part will be my only option.

Thanks,
PatD

pat,

i have had my duals on for a couple years, had desapi do it down in Cadiz oh. i can't answer your question, but the duals are pretty specific to serial number, as piper made changes on the fly. what does dave pratt have to say? also, call dick geunther, although retired, can still answer your question.

by the way, i love my duals, really quieted the vibration with my 3 blade mccaulley prop.

what is your sn. mine was 1067. i am going to the hangar this weekend and can take some photos.
