Ferry Prop for counterrotated Twin Comanche

Ferry Prop for counterrotated Twin Comanche

Postby N3322G » Thu Jun 18, 2009 1:39 am

Dear Comanche Owners,

I could use some help in locating a new counterrotated prop for my LIO-320 engine or a serviceable loaner so I can ferry to repair location.

Any help would be appreciated. Please call me at 817-491-4055.

Thanks in advance for any help or advice.
Pat

Pat,

I hope you have some luck with this. If Maggie was a C/R, I would lend you one of hers for a couple of weeks when you got ready to go, but alas, she is not. Maybe some other kind soul.

Good luck!

Pat,
Have you tried K2U to see if they have a rental/loaner/whatever?
I know when I converted my Twinkie to their props I left with them the old ones...one was CR.
Maybe they could be of help or know of some trade-ins coming.

slurrybomber,

Thanks for the kind offer. I'd actually looked up all the 39 owners who had listed their planes on Pathfinder for the South Central Tribe and saw what I think is yours. Close by David L'Roy rents his 39 and still kindly offered to loan the props to me.

Over the weekend I gave it quite a bit of thought. The Twin's props had 39 hours since overhaul at Hartzell. The 'same' new props will be here in about 5 weeks from Knots2U at a 30% savings over sourcing them from Hartzell. Since I know how they sound and feel and I know the take-off and landing performance, in my opinion, waiting for the 'same' prop lowers the ferry flight risk a bit.

Just to keep a little levity ... my husband usually laughs at this point and teasingly says something like ... and this is coming from the mouth of the woman who raced this puppy around the world in 24 days - lowered risk? Ha!
You can see why we two have such a good time together.
Pat
