EGT CHT Readings

EGT CHT Readings

Postby Kristofer Duckett » Wed Apr 06, 2016 6:07 am

I have an IO540 and trying to determine what are normal EGT readings. I am usually around the high 1350 's to as much as 1440 sometimes. Do these numbers seem normal?

Yes. Possibly a little low in high power operations. However absolute EGT's don't mean much. With EGT's it is the difference in fuel flow when an EGT reaches peak temp that need to be monitored when trying to run lean of peak. Ideally they will all peak at around the same fuel flow. That indicates an even fuel distribution.

It is the CHT's that need to be monitored in normal operation.
