Oil pressure check

Oil pressure check

Postby Bryan Burnette » Tue Feb 12, 2013 8:40 pm

My left engine is showing a little higher oil pressure than I like. Is there a convenient place to put a pressure gauge to check pressure. I need to see if it is actually high pressure or an indicator issue. Engine is Lyc. IO-360 in a PA-30 Miller.

Thanks,

Bryan

Bryan, I commiserate with your question - good news, bad news on having two engines.

It was a reading like this on oil temp that nudged me to put in the JPI and extra the oil temp probes. At take-off they are very close to redline and after about 10 minutes they decline to green then the left one slides towards the bottom, right one stays in the middle and yet the JPI oil temp stuff is steady... after the probes got installed correctly. Too bad there isn't an oil pressure thing on it - at least not the one we have.
When the gauges were new in 1970 all read the same for both engines. First to go wonky were the fuel gauges.

I'll be interested to learn what other folks post on this.
