Dual Exhaust and heater

I just bought my 1958 Comanche. It already had the dual exhaust installed, Which means, I have no heat in winter. Can I still add some kind of heater connected to the current dual exhaust? Also, my avionics guy found that the dual exhaust pipe had a few cracks in them that need welding. I know this needs to be done by a certified (FAA or what ever) welder, any ideas there?

The '59 250 I used to fly had duel exhaust and took the carb heat off one side and cabin heat off the other. Sounds like your missing some parts. Ray B

Dual exhaust does not mean you have no heat. In your case it sounds like the previous owner had a really bad install. I would talk to Dave Pratt, the developer and owner of the STC. Look in the ICS magazine for the phone number. He'll probably recommend that you send the cracked stack to Knisley (they make the system) for repair. If you don't have two heat muffs (one for cabin heat, one for carb heat) you'll have to get the side that's missing, or at least have the proper feeds installed on the existing muff. When you finally get the heat muff operational, you'll be pleased with the result. It put's out as much or more heat than the original.
