Fuel Inector Servo Quandry

Fuel Inector Servo Quandry

Postby Jim Worley » Wed Mar 28, 2012 12:19 am

Sirs and Ma'ams,
I need some help. My injector servo developed a leak and I took it off to have it overhauled or replaced. That is a pretty straight forward process and not my problem. Here is the background:

1. 1961 PA24-250. S/N 2522. Engine (from factory) - Lyc O-540 A1D5. Owned by me for 2.5 years.
2. in 1986(according to the engine log), A bendix fuel injection system was installed IAW Piper drawings and specifications, no STC required. According to the logs, the engine data plate was changed to reflect it's new status as an IO-540 C1B5. However, the data plate was not changed and still reads O-540 A1D5.
3 OK, so what, right? It has flown a lot and been overhauled twice since then.
4. The application list states that an IO-540 A prefix should use a servo, part # 252413, MODEL - RSA-5AD1. (this is what was installed on the aircraft)
5. The application list also states that an IO-540 C prefix should use a servo, part# 2524054, model RSA-5AD1.

So here is the problem, what is the correct servo to order. Any info that anyone can provide would be much appreciated!

Thanks!

Jim,

Didn't Dave Pratt do the cowl change and had the engine work done? He might be able to help. Phone is 321 751 9759 and email is viperrrrr@msn.com

Also Charlie Malott at Zephyr might know: 800 204 0735.
