Looking for Part Numbers in the Piper Book

Looking for Part Numbers in the Piper Book

Postby Larry Biever » Tue May 17, 2011 2:59 am

Hi,

I'm looking for the page in the Piper Parts book for my PA-24-180 that would have the part number info for the bolts that connect the cables to the torque tube weight assembly. I've gone thru the parts book 3 times and can't find them. I was wondering if someone would know the page number? I think I have the most current version - PA-24 Comanche Parts Catalog, Interm Revision: August 1998

Thanks
Larry

Larry,
I just looked as well and they do appear to be missing in both the tail assembly section, as well as the control section. My suggestion is to remove and measure the current bolts if they appear to be the correct size. These are AN bolts, so the first number indicates diameter in 1/16th of an inch (ex,AN3=3/16th" diameter, AN4=1/4" etc) and the dash number is the grip length in whole inches and in 1/8th inches (AN4-7 would be a 1/4 inch bolt with a 7/8th" length and an AN5-26 would be a 5/16th bolt with a grip length of 2 3/4"). I have an idea that the parts are not listed, as the length can be variable due to addition/subtraction of balance weight, and the possible differing resultant thickness, but that is just speculation.
