There is a sobering link to a youtube video over on Delphi... showing a couple of stabilator bearings out of a 1962 (?) 250. The reason that I'm mentioning it is that this is not just a situation where you put in a replacement part. There is quite a bit of "goesintoes" to replace the horn and INSPECT and BALANCE the adjacent parts. I'd bet that you will find a lot of loose trim drums in the tails, improperly tensioned control cables, out of balance stabilators, bad stabilator bearings, etc.
I have a twin... before the AD was issued for just the singles, I had it looked at... new stabilator bearings were proper and necessary. This is a critical situation for flight safety... much more difficult than swapping out a pair of bungees. Take it to a real pro that has done several of these folks... there are several shops around the country that know what they are doing. And probably 100's of shops that haven't done one yet. Not a situation that one should scrimp and take shortcuts on.
