cowling repair/replacement cost and compatibility

Postby criffus » Wed Jan 14, 2009 7:57 pm

Some of you may know my "saga" and my need to replace the cowling on my recently damaged 61' 250.
Long-story-short, I blew a cylinder off in-flight and the cowling was damaged badly.
Initially I had hoped to replace the cowling (before the accident) with a new Eagle cowling, but other costs have made this all-but unrealistic.
I am working on an insurance claim and wonder the following:
-What is a reasonable price for a salvage, but usable cowl?
-Can a 180 model cowl be used? (realizing that baffling is different)

Thanks,
Chris

cowling repair/replacement cost and compatibility

Chris,
Having been flying one for a couple years now, I'd certainly recommend going with the Eagle if possible.

If not I'd contact Dave at APP, or Bob the installer at Meiers Mods, 813-633-1315.
I can't see they wouldn't help you out with a serviceable one as there must be lots of them there. I know I left mine (62 250) on the pile.

Good luck,
Don
