A friend who did that removed both until she was able to fly to the location where she could receive a new bulkhead. Better than losing one in flight. she said the engines ran hotter but seemed to suffer no ill effects other than that. She is a mechanic and was flying near Bali at the time.
Note that some bulkheads need to be modified if you have the newer props. Hartzell has a process for this.
