Grounding

Grounding

Postby Richard Lanning » Tue Oct 14, 2014 1:28 pm

Based on some anomalies I have experienced with my plane I am beginning to suspect I might have a grounding issue.

My rotating beacon/strobe combo stopped working than miraculously began working again.

Stormscope throws antenna fault then miraculously began working again.

Marker beacons not working. They might be working, just not when I need them.

Now the autopilot is wandering on heading. An avtech told me this can be caused by a bad ground.

Anyone know where I should be looking for grounding connections in a PA24-250? I found the engine ground which looks in good shape.

As always, thanks for the help.

Richard,

If it is a grounding issue, and it could be, that seems to be affecting everything, look at the two grounds that also affect everything: the alternator or generator ground and the battery ground.

Good luck!

Also the field coil wiring if you have an alternator.
