Horn cracks

Horn cracks

Postby Duane Bolin » Tue Jul 01, 2014 12:39 am

How can I change the stab horn report I submitted? Initial inspection did not reveal any cracks, which I reported on the survey. After a deep cleaning of the original stab horn, two small cracks were revealed. Report submitted under the N number 8426P, 1964 PA24-180, TTAF 4050 HRS. The horn was replaced with the Aussie horn at Heritage Aero. The new horn is way to pretty to be hidden in the tail.
Thanks,
Duane Bolin

Duane... your photos are excellent... I saw it first hand last Tuesday... Cliff showed it to me... I am not a very thorough student of this topic as I have a Twinco... but until I saw yours, I was perhaps under the mistaken opinion that most of the cracked horns were from older aircraft.

Glad you got a new one (and that Cliff took care of you!).

All the best!
