Fuel Prices

Fuel Prices

Postby Billy Matthews » Sat Jun 18, 2011 12:49 pm

I know this should be under General section but I'm trying to post something in every section: I was looking up fuel prices for a trip to north Georgia and it's crazy how different the price are in differnt area's, for exsample in Olive Branch Miss. the price for 100LL was $4.62 and in Columbia SC it's $6.62 what's the deal. I remeber when no matter where you went LL was about $1.00 more than what premium unleaded was, you could count on that as a standard but not today. I wished I was smart enough to come with a solutions, but unfortunaley all I can do is complain Ha Ha

I love to fly but you got to be loaded to fly today, it's like there trying to weed us out it's a conspricy man:

George,

Fuel prices change weekly depending what the FBO paid for his last batch. Some retail sellers think their gas is better than others. Avoid them if you can.

There is no conspiracy. You want to own and fly an airplane you pay what it costs. Tell your problems to the Chaplain. We are all in the same boat (or plane). Here you are preaching to the choir.

When I'm planning a cross country I look on Airnav.com and look up fuel prices along my route. You can look them up by state and pick one that coincides the best with your needed fuel stop. Play around with it - you'll get familiar with it and it will become part of your regular flight planning ritual. It is for me and it can save a lot of money over the course of a year.
