Cabin Ventilation Early Singles

We've got a '59 180 and could use more fresh air on the floor (surprise). Quite a while back I read a post to route both front scat hoses to the cabin air during the summer, but I'd like to see if there isn't an approved way of getting more air short of a new cowling. Shortly after purchase I rebuilt the air box because it was leaking hot air from the engine compartment, so been there done that.

Are there any STC's out there to do a NACA vent on the right bottom cowl that could be routed into the fresh air scat on that side? That's only one idea....I'm sure there must be other ways too. I'm not above increasing the size of the slots in the plenum under the panel to let more air in,etc. Same with the slots on the side rotating vents.

Oh yeah....this middle age member just did his commercial in the 180. What a fun learning experience, and what a versatile airplane.....surprised how slow it can go. DE loved the airplane and just kept smiling through the checkride saying "what a smooth airplane". Wouldn't be surprised if he went out and bought one again. He used to be a twinkie owner.

Thanks,

Steve Marcozzi
