Avionics shop in the NE

Avionics shop in the NE

Postby Michael Bryant » Sat Jul 09, 2016 3:52 pm

It is time for our us to add ADS-B to our 180. Our previous avionics install/upgrade was done by Penn Avionics at Brandywine (KOQN) in West Chester, PA. Unfortunately, they are no longer in business.

We are based at Lancaster, PA (KLNS).

We are looking for recommendations in the NE, particularly SE PA, NJ, MD, and DE.

Thank you.

Any particular reason why you're not using the avionics shop on your home field? :?:

I have only used them once and then only for my 24 mo. inspections for the Txpdr and Pitot-static system. No complaints, getting the 24 mo. inspections again later this month and an estimate for the ADS-B at the same time. I thought it would be wise to get recommendations as well.

I would actually recommend Lancaster Avionics on your home field.

The flying club I belong to had some major avionics work done by them -- Aspen PFD/MFD, new A/P, new audio panel, new transponder -- and they did a fantastic job. We knew they had done a good job when 6 months later the plane was in for annual at our usual mechanic, who removed the panel and glare shield to look inside, and they commented on how immaculately the installation had been done.

I recently had them install GPS (GTN750) and engine monitor in my PA39. And again, they did a fantastic job. In both cases, on time and on budget.

They aren't always the cheapest, but they do a great job. And Todd Adams, the owner and head sales guy, is a straight up guy. He will walk you through the available options, and will even talk you out of more expensive solutions or additional work if he thought they were unnecessary.
