More on Autopilots

Anyone have good current (6 mos to a year ago) estimates (not just a guess) to install and autopilot in a Twinkie that doesn't have one or has a dead ALTI II? Need NAV/GPS function with ALT HOLD as a minimum. Just very basic would be fine. STEC 30 would be OK but I'm not finding much real actual price info anywhere. C2000 price??? Options anyone has done like piece together a used but workable ATLI III, etc to match factory install diagrams? I've read the posts and i',m familiar with the limitations with some APs. Thanks!!!

Hi Cliff,

Best I can do is May '08, $16,233.49 for an stec 30 with gpss installed. There was no auto pilot in the aircraft as it didn't work when we bought the a/c and I had it removed. Its hooked to a 430W and it is great. Can enter an approach in 3 button pushes and 2 scrolls. Great machine.

Good luck, Don

Cliff, I'd call John Van Bladeren, Ron and John's Comanche Service (ad in the Flyer). He's probably done more A/P installations on Comanches than any living human.

JvB is also a past ICS president and great guy. He flies a Twin Comanche.

Consider a later model Twinkie that has the Altimatic IIIB. These are often still serviceable and can be kept that way.
