Second Hand Century 2000

Second Hand Century 2000

Postby James Turner » Mon Mar 23, 2015 10:20 am

Hi All,

I have a line on a second hand Century 2000 autopilot that I'm thinking of purchasing to fit to my -180. The unit is ex a PA24-250 and was yellow tagged repaired and functional by Century back in 1998. It has been is storage since then.

Picture attached of what is included. I won't need the DI as I'm intending to use my Aspen with the EA100.

Any hints or advice apart from the obvious 'buyer beware' would be appreciated such as difficulty/cost in getting STC and other paperwork out of Century...

Not ideal to go second hand I know but with the price of any new autopilot for a 55yr old plane; maybe it makes sense...

Many thanks,

James.

Sense data to operate the C2000 is taken from an attitude indicator source - make sure the source is in good shape.

Have a C2000 in our twin and have been happy with it as long as the source is in good shape.

I talked to Alan Flewitt at Century about a year ago with regard to a similar topic (doing what Kristin Winter did and converting my Altimatic III to a Century III) and as I recall it was going to be several thousand dollars US for the STC paperwork to make this happen. I'd call Century and ask for an exact current figure.
