I am sure that the NW Tribe has some of its own gurus, but SW is willing to share. The Pacific Northwest is one of my favorite places.

Comanche Condition Survey

This is a program that can be self-sustaining if participation includes all Comanche owners not just ICS. Having participated in the ABS program I understand its value. A detailed squawk list is given to those inspected. Some inspectors are from local shops with approved Bonanza/Baron experience. They benefit because often they get the recommend work.

Our SC group is having a maintenance fly-in at Clifton TX March 27-29. While not a CFF/Comanche Condition sponsored event it might be another place to test the concept. It will be at Clifton Aero. Owner Tim Tally, an ICS member/advertiser, is known for his Comanche expertise.

David,

There is no intention that this program is limited to ICS members, and it was not so at Laughlin. I don't know why you seem to think it is, considering your lack of involvement with it, so far.

This program will need to be self-sustaining as CFF can't pay to have the entire fleet inspected. CFF is doing what it was chartered to do, and that is promote safety by providing seed money to make things happen. The jump start if you will.

I don't know if we will have the template (checklist and instructions) set up by late March, but I would encourage the SC tribe to consider something similar. Based upon the aircraft I have looked at in OSH and Laughlin, this is something the fleet needs.

Dave, this is a CFF sponsored event, the same as every other Maint. Seminar and Comanche Flyer Foundation Pilot Proficiency Program (CPPP) that is going on.

Thanks for the correction. The FLYER listing does say "in conjunction with CFF". I don't believe the event will include aircraft inspections, but perhaps it could.

Harley,

Correct me if I am wrong, but I am not aware of any maintenance seminars in the past three years that were not CFF supported. One of the items we need to discuss at the next meeting is having an organized effort at these seminars to make people aware that these are CFF supported events and to provide information for donors.

As a note to the tribes, if any are considering a seminar, or Comanche Condition Survey (CCS), I am the contact point for CFFsupport. If you want to organize a Comanche Pilot Proficiency Program, Zach is your contact. My email is kristin_winter at comcast.net.

CCS is a day long event. Each inspector can do 7-8 aircraft a day, perhaps a bit more as we get things streamlined. It will require support from the tribe and probably a local FBO as it will need to have hangar space for at least two aircraft per inspector. We haven't settled on a final price, but this program needs to be reasonably self-sustaining. I would note that ABS charges $200 for singles and $250 for the twins. As the main points on the Comanches are the gear and tail, we are not contemplating a different price for twinkies.

This clarifies CCS plans. While there are large membership differences, last year ABS had 11 Service Clinics where 233 airplanes were inspected. At $200/250 per inspection this is a great value...and it will be for Comanches as CCS expands. Since it will be available for all Comanche owners that exposure should add ICS members.

Kristin, that's an amazing value. Thanks for all the work on this. If any un-cowling is planned, it would make sense to charge a tad more for twins. Even though I think my Twin is well-maintained - all really good mechanics have advised me to have someone else do the annual every so often because four eyes are better than 2.
