10:53am Minutes of the Previous Board Meeting (Tacoma, WA)
Harley explained that we did not have a quorum at the Spring Board meeting in Orlando. Bylaws state that, other than the annual meeting, CFF must have a majority of members present. Therefore the minutes to be accepted would be the Tacoma 2007 minutes.
Don Nelson moved to accept the minutes
Lorne Harmon seconded
Motion passed unanimous
10:55am Presidents Report Harley McGatha
Hoping to have a continued presence in Oshkosh. Feedback on the pilot proficiency program has been great, even had a husband and wife participate. Zach Grant is the chairman of the Pilot Proficiency Program and we broke even on the Watertown, WI event. Again we want to thank Zach for all the hard work and time he has put into this project.
Also had gear simulator available to the public at Oshkosh.
CFF Spent $2500.00 in Oshkosh.
CFF is doing all it can to entice the public to come and learn all they can about the Comanche airplane. All and all we had a really good year of participation.
Harley asks that Tribe reps requesting seminars contact him (Harley) directly. CFF Request for Funds and Fund Reimbursement forms are available on request from Harley.
CFF funds are being depleted.
11:00am Treasurer Report Hank Spellman
It is rumored that ICS gives CFF more funds than they spend. This is not true. Need to work on spending more on Scholarships, have money designated in Taylor funds for that. In general, continue to spend money on good projects like the Stabilator Horn, Pilot Proficiency, etc.
Need to focus on the plane and pilot issues. CFF’s agenda is to preserve the planes.
Fees charged for programs sponsored by CFF must be the same for member or non-member regardless.
Frank Sargeant made motion to accept treasurer’s report
Seconded by Don Nelson
Motion passed unanimous
Open Discussion
Stabilator Horn issue – Piper offered to handle the assemblies through their normal distributors, end user and product would be the same. Piper ran a production run of 140 pcs. CFF would not have to pay for the tooling.
Harley has requested the cost break-down and will decide from the firm fixed price.
ICS Membership dues ($1) donated to CFF have been done away with. We need to continue to receive donations for CFF. Hope donations will be continued from convention. We are totally separate from ICS and appreciate all funds and continued support.
There has been more conflict over ICS 1/3 donation and the $1.00 donation so that is why the board decided to do away with it. We will continue to support CFF in anyway that we can. (ICS)
ICS wanted to build the ICS treasury, will meet in the spring and decide on contribution to CFF, depending on finances and all concerned.
Funding has changed over the years. Discussed other options to replenish CFF treasury, such as Convention Auctions that were done in the past, requesting donations from sponsors.
Harley said CFF was not allowed to have an auction in Tampa, 2003 and has not held one since.
11:30am Cruise Convention Bruce Thumann
CFF set aside $6,000.00 for convention speakers, spent approximately $3,000.00. Expecting a profit from convention, hoping to donate 1/3 of that profit to CFF. List of presenters sponsored by CFF available. All in all, the convention participation was very successful.
11:30am Nomination of CFF Trustees: Harley McGatha
Kristin Winter, SW Tribe
Matt Kurke, SE Tribe
Lorne made the motion to accept Kristin Winter
Seconded by Dale Vandever
Motion passed unanimous.
Matt Kurke wants to continue as he has, and be reimbursed for gear seminars, therefore he should not be a CFF Trustee. Do not want to get into issues that would cause CFF to lose 501C status. All agreed to remove Matt Kurke from Trustee list.
Bruce Thumann made motion to accept
