Charleston So. Carolina

Just spent asnother weekend in Charleston. Great restaurants and plenty to do and see. I have been there 4 or 5 times ans each visit has been nice.

what airport do you fly into?
Any recommendations on hotels, restraurants, etc?
I'm always up for a place to visit, especially as it gets colder, time to head south.

I landed at KCHS, the Charleston Air Force Base, Atlantic Aviaton. . If you don't want to rent a car, when you ask thjem to contact a Cab, mention that you want a metered cab. Their preferred ground transport is a flat rate carrier that is 25% more then metered cab. ( If the driver is wearing a suit and tie you have gotten the flat rate company.) There is a $15.00 per night tie down fee, and they waved one nights fee with fuel purchase. Fuel was pricey.Their is a smaller airport north of the city. I don't remember the name of it. It might be more economical.

We stayed at the Holiday Inn Riverview. I wouldn't recomend it. There were two big events in town when we went and available rooms were very limited. There are many wonderful hotels listed on line. A great restaurant on East Bay St. is Magnolia's. The Smoke House was pretty good as weell. ( also on East Bay ) Again there are many wonderful restaurants listed on line.

The horse drawn tour of the city is nice. The harbor cruise was OK. Just walking King St. ( shopping and antiques ) is a great way to spend a day.

great response, i haven't gone to any real cities to stay, mostly little places, so this was a big help. thanks....

If you like Charleston, So. Carolina then you'l love SAVANNA, Georgia. Lots of stuff to see and do. Even a 10PM goast walking tour is very cool.

I haven't been to SAV for a while.. probably 25 years. I enjoyed SAV as well as CHS. I love old cities in general.. New Orleans is another great plac to visit.
