Gear Extension Speeds on a 250

In the (excellent and detailed) POH I obtained from the ICS the gear speeds (Vle and Vlo) are both set at 130 knots. It also recommends Vlo as 108 knots.

On the old worn dash there are a couple of sticky labels with 96 knots set for the operating speed.

Can anyone confirm from another source what the gear lowering speed limit should be? I grant you that lower speeds are a good idea, but it would be nice to have the correct notes on the panel...

All 250s have a Vle, and Vle of 150 mph IAS. The first 100 PA24s, all 180s had the lower 125mph gear speeds. There is a reference in some of the early Piper books of recommending the lower speed, and that is where it came from in the ICS POH. The gear system is essentially the same through all models and years, and the recommendation for the lower speeds was dropped by Piper in subsequent years as there was no adverse effects noted by using the higher number consistently.
