Wing skin crack

Wing skin crack

Postby William Mattson » Tue Apr 01, 2014 12:49 am

I have a small in long crack. I just discovered. It is on the bottom of the right wing about 1 foot from tip. I do not believe it is around a rivet, but is is close to main spar. Can this be patched? Or do I have to re-skin? I hope my AP can get to looking at it soon to tell me about flying it.

It is hard to tell from the picture, but it looks like there may be some bondo in the area suggesting that there may be more damage hidden. You need to take the tip off to get a better look at the issues before making any decisions about type of repair.

Was poorly done bondo. It was patched with automotive bondo. Now working on new paint job.
