Overvoltage damage?

Overvoltage damage?

Postby Andres Darvasi » Sat Dec 07, 2013 5:55 pm

Today I needed to do some programming on my GNS530 and requested to be connected to external power, stressing that it should be 12v, after about 8 minutes, I realized that the attendant had plugged the cable on the 24v slot of the battery cart.
In appearance it does not seem to be any damage, however I wonder if the fuel sensors (i did not check the gauge to see if it was still working) or the turn and bank can be damaged, or what else may be affected.
The lights and electronic instruments seem to be working OK.
I already left the hangar and did not fly today, but I am going back tomorrow.
Your advice will be greatly appreciated.

A lot of the avionics will accept anywhere from 12-33 volts so those units are not likely to be hurt. If you didn't turn it on, it won't be hurt. I would worry most about the engine gauges.
