boost pump for PA 24 260 C

Postby Pierre Hulin » Thu Oct 31, 2013 5:45 pm

Good day for all,

I am looking for a boost pump for my PA 24 260 C serial number 24-4847. Part number 481 686 Bendix #480528. I have contacted Webco and Pifer's air motive and here the answers :

Webco : We have nothing on hand and that pump hasn't been available new for over 20 years. Piper used to supply a replacement kit for it (dukes pump, bracket, clamp, etc) but I don't know if it's still available. You may be able to find someone to repair your pump but parts/components may be a problem.
Pifer's airmotive : We have been researching the part# that you provided us. We think that it is no longer available and may have been replaced with another fuel pump, maybe Dukes or Weldon...we cannot verify this though. Our best advice would be to contact your local Comanche Society and see if they can help you further. Iam sorry we were not able to help you at this time. I hope that in the future we will have the opportunity to be of further help.

I will appreciate your help to find a solution in order to repair my boost pump.

Regards

Pierre,

There are too many 260s out there - someone must know the answer. If no one answers on the Forum, then ...

On the first page the Tech Tab has a Q/A section and says:
"The preferred method of getting questions answered is by going to our Maintenance Forum.
However, if you can not get the information you need there, you can send a technical question directly our technical directors by typing it below.
Write question below. Be sure to include plane model info. "

This is the link to click and then input your question - Personally I would cut and paste your posting - again if no one answers here...

Pierre,

I have a pump for you. It's got about 200 hours on it. Let me know if you want it.

Piper use to have a kit that you needed to convert the Bendix pump over to the Dukes. It consisted of a clamp and fittings and a hose as I remember. I don't know if you can find the part numbers of the components from the kit listed in the parts manual. You might be able to cobble together the parts. Try John or Phillip at Webco. They might have the component list or a fuselage with the updated pump installed.

Matt Kurke has had these "kits" in stock in the past. If he doesnt have them now, Im sure he can tell you what you need.

Give Charlie a call at CJ Aviation a call. I bought a new pump for a C210 at about half the price ($650/ & $50 core) of some o/h units. They are a repair station for most fuel and hyd pumps and they have their own PMA to manufacture their own new pumps. He told me he has over 65 STC's on pumps. They are good people to deal with. 1-888-871-0421. http://www.cjaviation.com/
Good luck,
Swaid
