help !

well we finish the paint on the plane, went to rwy got my run up all fine start rolling all fine once i was around 1000ft i noticed my speed was bleeding pretty fast, looking my ipad and gps i was doing 130 ias showing 70 then airspeed indicator crap out completely, now i just finish painting the plane, and i never remember seeing my static vent, and guess the AP painted over, any one knows were is located? my guess is passenger side between the cowling and door i have a small pin hole with a drop of paint on it any help would be appreciated, i did look up the drawings but i mentaly challenged on those drawings :mrgreen:

my plane is a 1958 180hp

This is important to know and should be on your preflight check list. My 1961 250 has a static port on each side of the plane just ahead of the stabilator. You should check for plugging there by bugs or polish and now your paint. The hole you reference between the door and cowling is a water drain hole for the air inlet just above it that provides cooling air to the radio stack.

found them under the vinyl N numbers
will cut the numbers to expose plates, tomorrow, the holes are cover with small plates to protect them, :roll

went to a fly in at LFK and have a nice breakfast this morning, plane perform as always flawless and yes i got the ports uncover and all instruments are accurate. now that i know were the ports are, i include them on my preflight :mrgreen:

Congrats on the flight and breakfast.

You might want to get the Maurice Taylor DVD and watch the pre-flight section - I watch before every BFR as a refresher - always something to learn or re-learn.
