406 ELT Discount

I have arranged for an ICS discount of $50 of the current price of the Emerging Lifesavings Technology ELT. This is the same company that gave a seminar at the Airventure ICE tent. In general the characteristics of this ELT are:
- Built in GPS provides position to within 25 meters
- User replaceable 5 year lithium battery
- Self test mode satisfies annual test requirement
- Blade style antenna has same drag as whip and much better crash survivability
- Blade antenna contains both GPS and ELT antennas and is both horizontally and vertically polarized
- Panel mount control with activation buzzer
- Kit includes ELT, antenna, antenna cables, control, control cable connectors
- Requires 8 conductor cable for ELT to panel control

Remember that 121.5 ELTs are not monitored any more. 406 ELTs will send burst transmission to satellites with you identification and in this case, with your GPS position. The satellite relays your position to the rescue center who will call the phone number registered to the ELT and then notify the local authorities with your position.

Because the GPS data is coming from a built in receiver as opposed to coming from a panel mount connection, shutting off the master switch will not eliminate position information from being available for transmission.
