great A & P in Maine

Postby Jeffery D. Stivason » Sat Oct 29, 2011 6:47 am

I recently purchased a 61 Comanche 250 and used a great A & P in Maine to get it up and running. The guy is Kevin Dauphinee and he is located at Dexter Regional (1B0) near Bangor. He knows and flys Comanches'. Kevin works on your airplane with the thoroughness and care as if it were his own. phone is 207-478-2037. tell him Jeff sent you. stayed at a nice bed and breakfast (Brewster Inn) while there.

Interested to know more about your "new" Comanche. Always good to know people who know Comanches.

What's your N# and where did you find it? Where will it be based?

believe it or not, bought the airplane on e-bay. mixed feelings about that because I got it cheap but ended up putting quite a bit into it (didn't really get the whole truth from Border Air in Vermont who had it from a handler in NH). found this A&P in Maine (Kevin) who helped me out. Still, in the end got a nice aircraft at a fair value. 7608P is my N# and I am based inside the SFRA and FRZ in Wash DC at VKX. the aircraft itself has moved around during its life, is still under 3000 hours and seems to have been hangered. never flew a Comanche until I went to pick it up. had Tim Hodgkins an expert Comanche CFI in Maine teach me all he could in 2 days. flew it home with a CFI whom had no Comanche experience. now having a great time working on becoming proficient.

Good report. I've always been suspicious of airplanes on eBay. Most don't sell. You were lucky to have a nearby Comanche guy to work on it. Might want to look up other Comanches in your area. Ken Shaffer is near Annapolis with his "new" 260C. Take a look at the PATHFINDER and pull up the Northeast tribe list. Pete Morse is your tribe chief.

The 2012 ICS annual convention will be in Baltimore. They will be looking for help.
