High Performance brakes

High Performance brakes

Postby Emlyn Currer » Thu Oct 06, 2011 12:01 am

I have a 64 Twin Comanche with Miller High Performance brakes on it. The Discs are badly scored and the pads need to be replaced. Anyone know of the best option to replace the old pads and discs?. Crome or stainless steel? Any companies I should be looking at?

Thanks.

Emlyn,

I don't know if the Cleveland brakes I have on my 39 would work in your situation but I have been happy with them.

I installed chrome plated disks on my single in 1988. They lasted 17 yrs and about 2000 hours. The chrome wore off. I had another set of them on the shelf so I changed them. Braking was not noticely worse then with steel, and pads wore alot less. I probably would have gotten a few more yers out of the old ones, but since I had them I installed the new ones.
