A/E logbook back up

A/E logbook back up

Postby Richard Bell » Sun Dec 19, 2010 3:05 pm

Sorry in advance if this is not the right forum for my question.

I would like to have my aircraft and engine logbooks backed up, probably in a CD format. Also, are there any electronic A/E logbooks that are legally recognized by the FAA?

Thanks,

Dick

I haven't done it (yet), but the best idea I've heard is to use a digital camera to photograph each page.

Jay,

If the camera is good enough, that works. Effectively, it is the same thing.

After a suggestion on a BFR, I copied mine and put the copy in the safety deposit box.

I copied the following:
Aircraft
Engines
Props
POH because that's where other hard to replaces stuff is
STCs
337s
8130s

It is on my list to do my log book and my husband's

After hearing horror stories of log books lost or destroyed while at a shop, I made a second copy and put it in a binder for use by any maintenance shop. Then I take the responsibility for putting the stickies from the shops in the logbook.

Thanks for all the good imput. I think I will eventually either scan or use a didgital camera to record the logs.

1-3-11

Thanks again for the suggestions. I ended up scannning the log books. It took awhile, but now, at least, I have a back up source. It is kind of scary to think what would happen to the value of an aircraft with no log books.
