One thing you can try is to take some really sticky two-sided tape, or use duct tape back to back, to stick down the corners and stretch out the bottom of the tank to get it flat.

Effie, Make sure your tank vent is open. If it's blocked, the tank will suck up from the bottom, causing your float to give a false reading (more fuel than you have), and maybe causing an early engine failure.

Maybe. Worth investigating...

Hi David,
That's interesting - never heard before of 28 gallon tanks.
I run my tanks dry often to check that, (per the AD), they are not collapsed at top due to a loose fastener and therefore won't take the full 30 gallons.
My mains do only take 28 gallons, but since they are fastened at top I thought it might be 2 gallons short due to a combination of a rebuild of the bladders, and wrinkles at the bottom. Or unusable fuel in bottom I somehow can't see. I also frequently check with a flashlight and mirror that they are not loose and sagging at top.
(My aux's consistently take 15.2 or .3.)

The question remains, (not that it makes any difference), why in the world did Piper do that?
