Heater exhausts mentioned in AD 2017-15-05

I was reading the FAA discussion about the AD on the heater exhausts and was confused.

They say the part might cost $1,000, but there aren’t any available.

Has anybody complied with this AD by replacing the heater exhaust with a stainless item, and if so where did you get it?

After reading the preceding AD that is associated with this one, it looks like it only applies to Stewart Warner heaters.

I’ll confirm that with my A&P but not worrying about it right now.

If any help, I am running a Southwind that is subject to the AD. The mechanic merrily used a magnet to confirm the exhaust was made of stainless. Therefore the AD did not apply. Perhaps this could be your case hopefully. Not much help to find a replacement however.
