Spinner screws

I was asked the other day if the stainless screws on the -30 spinners were "structural" screws. It was also observed that they lacked a plastic "washer" to protect the spinner from fretting or corrosion. The observation was made by a very knowledgeable Bonanza A&P pilot. Admittedly, I would like to clean up my stainless spinners and the screw heads have seen better days, as they are being deformed. I had thought just replace the screws next time they are off. (May)

That said - are there "specical" screws for the spinner? I have always used what I would call normal stainless on other airplanes.

To my belief any AN machine screw of the proper size is proper to use

I use AN526C-R8 stainless screws with nylon washers.

I just checked the parts manual for the singles (only one I had handy) and they use AN526 1032R8 as the type to use. Most everyone I've seen uses stainless so there would be a "C" in the AN number. By the way the AN526 means they are non-structural truss head screws. Available in cad plated or stainless. Have not seen any with a nylon washer, but no reason it wouldn't be ok and it would not mar spinner.

This thread prompted me to look for the stainless steel part number for the screws that attach the cowling to the fuselage, and after going through both the parts and service manuals, I can't for the life of me find any information on this. Can someone point me in the right direction?

Aircraft Spruce. These are AN526 screws.

The typical screw for a single is AN526-832R8 for steel, or AN526C832R8 for stainless steel. For a twin AN507-832R8 or AN507C832R8
