Mechanic near Duluth, MN?

Postby Timothy Quigley » Thu Jul 30, 2015 2:01 am

Just flew my freshly painted, annualed, and avionics upgraded Comanche 260 from Athens, Ga to Duluth MN for a wedding. The last bit of the flight it seems the mechanical fuel pump was acting up. A few times the fuel flow dropped from the normal 11-12 down to 7 or 8, engine ran rough, then I turned on the electric fuel pump and all was well. Turned off electric pump and it ran fine for 10 mins or so then happened again. I landed at KSUW JUST South of Duluth. As luck would have it, the normal mechanic on the field just had shoulder surgery I'm told. The FBO is going to ask if another mechanic might be interested in looking at it but it didn't seem as likely as I would have liked. I'm supposed to depart for Pennsylvania Saturday morning so I figured I'd ask here and see if anyone knows someone in the Duluth area who might be willing to take a look at my bird.

If anyone has a lead, Respond here or feel free to call my cell phone which is 215-840-0153.

Cheers,

If it is fuel injected, this is how my Twin acted when injectors were plugged. Debris can get in there if work was done in addition to annual inspection - had an especially bad bout after an annual. Cleaning the injectors fixed it.

It is fuel injected. So perhaps something to look at besides the mechanical pump. Thanks!

Found someone to look at it. We found some oil coming out of the vent tube apparently suggesting it is a bad fuel pump. New parts coming in the morning.
