Stand By Alternator

Stand By Alternator

Postby Mark Anderson » Wed May 01, 2013 12:55 am

I am would like to add a stand by alternator and possibly remove my vacuum pump and vacuum instruments. Is there an STC for this? Is the STC required for the vacuum pump removal or the stand by alternator? I have a PA-24-250.

Thanks,

Mark

The latest AOPA mag has an article on this very subject you should review. I did google the info on the 260 as suggested in the article and if I read it correctly the vacumn pump is not required equipment on the 260. If that is so it appears you might be able to remove the vacumn pump and install the backup alt with a 337. Obviously you want to vet this with your IA before you start down this road.

I researched the type certificate data sheet online for the PA-24-250 and the Vacum Pump is a required item. Does anyone know if the O-540 has an extra accessory dive pad for a second alternator?

Thanks
