Tip tank fuel quantity indication

Tip tank fuel quantity indication

Postby Christopher Hufnagel » Fri Apr 26, 2013 3:50 am

Hi all,

My left tip tank fuel quantity indicator has suddenly decided to read 3/4 to 1/2 full when actually full. It remains at this point on the indicator until the fuel burn approaches that point (by flight time and fuel used on the Shadin). It then indicates a decrease at a normal rate, matching the right tank towards empty. It still reads correct at empty.

Has anyone had this happen? Any suggestions of where to look first to repair/ replace before I hand it off to the mechanic at annual?

Thanks,
chris

My experience has been grounding or adjustment. Air Parts of Lock Haven does overhaul them.
IIRC the service manual has a section on this.
