Cup Holders?

Cup Holders?

Postby James Turner » Sat Nov 03, 2012 9:22 pm

Hi All,

Slightly trivial however, more than once I have found myself wanting cup holders in my 24-180. Is there an approved unit that would be suitable for installation?

I wondered if this folding unit designed for the boating market would suffice? I think it would fit where the old ash trays were mounted but I'm not sure of the legalities. Comments?

Cheers,

James.

James,

My first thought was - wow, a pilot that flies so smoothly that they are looking for a cup holder?! - I'm impressed. Just teasing a bit.

We almost always carry water on board in pint plastic bottles. We are usually only two on board so they sit on the floor in the back seat area or in a sturdy container forward between the pilot and co-pilot footwells - this may not work for a single.

You might consider the small canvas LL Bean blueberry bag that holds 4 pint bottles nicely and the friction keeps it pretty well in place on the carpet in the second seat row area.

In the twin I really don't know where I'd put a cup holder that it wouldn't interfere with something else at some point.

Try using velcro on that cup holder you've illustrated. I have a cup holder that clips onto my leg flying. I bought it at Sporty's years ago.

My cup (water bottle) holder is the space between my left hip and the side panel ....and yes whatever I'm drinking needs a cap 8)
