Vacuum Pressure

Had low vacuum pressure today mid way through a flight. During runup it was good at 5.5" then the primary vacuum pump failure light came on in cruise, the vacuum press was at 3" at 4500'. Any quick things to check?

Bad vacuum regulator or plugged filter? You also could have had a hose spring a leak downstream of the gauge and cause a decreased indication.

Where is the filter and is it easily accessible?

Should be under the panel, or mounted on the cabin side of the firewall. It looks like a small cyl. filter with mesh covered white filter media.

Sheared shaft, replaced with Tempest overhauled unit. Good to go.

Shouldn't have been ANY vacuum with a sheared shaft. Glad you got it fixed.
