Fuel Flow Indicator

Fuel Flow Indicator

Postby Ronald Cecchi » Mon Nov 06, 2017 9:41 pm

Hello all, need some help from those more knowledgeable then I. I have owned a 260 turbo for about three years. I was trained in the plane to take off at full rich, then after 1000' 25/25 and lean to 22gph for initial climb. However, lately I have noticed that when I reduce to 25/25 now I am already at or slightly less than 22 gph. Tach and MP are normal. Question is am I just losing it, is it a potential problem in FF indicator, or other potential problem? Since I lean based on the FF indicator, I want to make sure I am getting an accurate reading. Thanks.

Dear Ronald,

In my turbo 260, I do not lean after setting 25"/2500RPM. My fuel flow while climbing at 25/2500 varies from about 21 to 22.5 gph. I do not think it's a problem unless your fuel flow is significantly lower than that.

-Is your 260 turbo factory or is it a retrofit?
-Which fuel flow instrument are you using?
-What fuel flow reading are you indicating at 25/2500 during the climb?

Best,
Av
