Standard 6 Pack Panel Reconfiguartion

Standard 6 Pack Panel Reconfiguartion

Postby Ross DeFranco » Mon Nov 16, 2015 5:13 pm

I am in the process of shopping for a PA-24-250 Comanche. One thing that I absolutely want is the standard 6 pack configuration for the gauges. Is there a good STC for that? What would that reconfiguration cost? Can anyone point me in the right direction. There are a few that I would be interested in buying, but I do not want to fly one without the standard 6 pack configuration, so I just want to know what that costs. Thank you.

The Ron And John panel is great.. It is technically not a hard project, just time consuming. If you have basic mechanical skills, and patience, you can do it yourself, under the supervision of your A&P. Once you have your panel there is a template of where you cut out the exesiting panel for the new overlay. From there the overlay is simple bolted onto the exesisting structure. Counter sink your screw holes for a clean look. You will need to make sure any wire harnesses have enough slack for the new location. Pitot static and Airspeed 1/4 lines and fittings can be had from aircraft spruce. Be careful with soldered connections when moving switches, they like to break. The gear soiloind is on the firewall left side. Good time to replace while it's open. I also did the ashby glare shield, now sold by spruce, at the same time. On the co pilot side the engine cluster takes a bit of patience. Carefully mark wires before disassemble. Pictures are always a good idea. It took me a solid two weeks as I recall.
John been working on comanche's for a long time. The advantage in Thier design is simplicity, and access should you need to get behind there again for whatever reason.
Our's is a 61 250 Good luck

I also have the Ron & John's panel and Ashby Glareshield in my PA-30. Very happy with both products in terms of look and finish.
