Seat Stops

I have a 260B and I am trying to find out more information on required seat stops. The manual is not very clear on what is required and exactly where they go. Does anyone have more information and/or pictures of where they have placed their seat stops? Much appreciated. KG

Hi Kent,

On my 260B the stops are at both ends of the front seat tracks and just at the back of the rear seat rails. They are a light aluminum cap that goes over the end of the rail and are held in place by a single screw into the rail. I have also seen stops that were handmade out of aluminum consisting of a "U" shaped cap again scred to the end of the rail. In either case the idea is to keep the seat from sliding off the rail should the adjusting stops fail. In a Comanche this is not nearly as big a deal as in some of the Cessnas.

On the pilots seat outboard rail there is supposed to be a stop about 1/2 way back. If you remove the seat you will see a tapped hole where the stop is suposed to be mounted. The stop is about an inch piece of aluminum about 1/8 inch thick. I saw one on Ebay the other day. You can also try Earnest at AZ Planes. His number is 602 503-21216. You could easily make one as an owner made part. It is almost square with a little rounded indent on the side that the seat makes contact. Tom8931p@aol.com

Note that the seat stop on the pilots side does not allow it to slide back as far as the passengers side. I've seen the seat rails mixed up such that the passengers seat only slid back partially, making entry and exit difficult. Ray B

A washer (or 2) with an appropriate screw to hold them will work too. Not saying anything about part numbers, 337's or whatever, but structurally they are appropriate -- if of sufficient height, the roller cannot pass over them.

I also took my rollers out and machined solid ones. Rolls much better. We use a bolt and washer on the back for the stop,
And made a small u shape of aluminum for the front.
