As you are aware, Delphi is free, this one is not and in tough economic time many are not renewing here. Personally I support both. There are jewels posted on both.

I also support the ICS and the Delphi forum. I was just curious why there is so little activity in the ICS forum. bernie

I use both forums. I find the Felphi Forum easier to use for some reason. I would say my usage of the Delphi forum is about 95% to about 5% for the ICS Forum.

History is that ICS asked past Pres Dale Vandever to create a Forum. He did so on Delphi. So first to exist garnered all that were interested in Comanche help via the Internet.

Later ICS developed its own using different technology. Bill Harris had a lot to do with this. The Forum was reasonably active when I started using it. For whatever reason Bill Harris parted company with ICS and took his marbles with him ... all the posts ICS members had made. I know Bill will refute this and I know ICS will also have opinions but as a user and contributor the result is, all of my previous posts and others are no longer available. My personal view is that is theft of intellectual asset that I donated to ICS - can you tell I am still unhappy about this? So this left a bunch of people w/o help and they migrated to Delphi.

Dale had thought about shutting Delphi down many times due to rancorous postings. At his death, close friend and Flagship Comanche owner David Lawrence volunteered his time to host. David chose to cease supporting Delphi - again due to rancorous postings. Kristin Winter graciously started another delphi site and is working to find a solution where intellectual assets donated by knowledgeable Comanche owners will not be lost to the owners by ICS or Delphi technology.

So IMHO Delphi site was first, is cheaper and has the most loyal following. Also, if you google 'piper comanche service forum' the answer that pops up on the first page that has Forum in the title is delphi. So visibility is not as good for ICS Forum - even though it shows in the detail description of the first line of Google results.

As you know, I support both.

What ICS does do much more effectively than Dephi is to represent all Comanche owners to other organizations. IMO every Comanche owner benefits from this - especially wrt the FAA. Without ICS every Comanche would have stab removal and torque tube inspections every 100 hours. ONLY through ICS and the concerted efforts of volunteers Hans Neubert, Dave Fitzgerald and many, many others do we have a parts replacement solution and no action required for Twin and 400 owners. IMHO every 400 and Twin owner owes a quantifiable financial debt to ICS for this effort should be an ICS member for as long as they own the aircraft because ICS relieved them from financially this expensive maintenance. Pardon the rant in the paragraph. While I don't like many parts of the ICS directions and spent many hours working to change it - alone and with others, it continues to have my membership because of this issue and the Forums.

My only issue with the delphi forum (and I use both) is that there is no way to migrate it away from delphi in the future (no export function... on purpose from Delphi) so I fear in the future that the posts and knowledge is redeveloped on that forum will be lost again.

Bernie,

There are many reasons why the Delphi Forum exists. One main reasons the Delphi Forum exists. Is because of the free flow of information that people write without worrying to much about being censored. It is also much faster to get a question answered than here on the ICS web site and it reaches more people.
