Airspeed Indicator Re-Screen

Airspeed Indicator Re-Screen

Postby George O'Connor » Thu Oct 24, 2013 2:37 am

I am replacing my panel in my 63 PA-30 and want to re-screen the airspeed indicator. I have often wondered why there are no blue or red lines on the indicator. I wanted de-clutter it a bit and revove the knots on the inside and add the red and blue line. Just wondering if this is legal to do. The shop says I can screen ot anyway I want. Input is appreciated.

Hi George,

I don't know about being legal, but if you ever plan to re-sell the Twin, some folks prefer kts to mph.

Funny that we've been working on an ASI for our 39. Luckily I have an old one that I'll send it to be O/H'd as new ones frequently have the TAS window on top of the 140 mph gear speed that is so important to me and no one will guarantee that we can get one with all the important speeds outside of the TAS window busy area.

Our red and blue lines are faded but still visible.

Thanks, I have sent it to century instruments and they will exchange it for a non true airspeed model with a fresh screen. I am amazed that my previous one did not have red or blue lines.

Cheers

George, when you get it, would you kindly post a photo. I'm very curious what the exchanged one will look like. Thanks in advance
