Mark,

As an A&P/IA that knows Twinkies well, hence can do a good pre-buy and am in a position to fix surprises more cheaply, I would only be interesting in buying such an aircraft for my own personal use, provided I was planning to keep it for a long time and got at least 20% off on the price. If you will have to pay a shop to fix the surprises, then I would say 40% off.

My problem with this airplane as you have described it is that it sounds fishy. I would be very worried that the plane was inundated. I would also be worried that the annual that was done did not properly verify the status of the AD's. A number of them you really need to know what you are looking at to tell if the AD has been complied with or not. Most mechanics do not have sufficient Comanche experience to know.

I am an A&P student and plan on doing a lot, if not all of my own maintenance. My A&P teacher is going to help me out until I finish my certificate. I also plan on owning the airplane for a long time.

I have the same concerns with the annual and AD's being verified. That is why I want to do an annual along with the pre buy by a comanche expert and have the owner pay for any discrepancies. Do you know any good mechanics in the south Florida area? Would you be willing to do a pre buy/annual Kristin? Send me a personal message if you are interested or know anyone who can do it. Matt Kurke said he can't do the entire pre buy, just the gear inspection.

I would suggest Matt Kurke, in Naples for the prebuy. He is good and very picky. http://www.comanchegear.com/
