Lower spar boom corrosion

Help!
I own a PA24-250. At annual new engineers found corrosion in three places on the rear face of the lower boom spar about 8 inches inboard of the portside brace studcentre line. Does anyone have experience of a similar problem and if so how was the problem rectified? We will be dealing with the CAA as the aircraft is registered and located in UK.Any advice would be much appreciated

Maclean,
I think it is a terminology difference, but I am not quite sure of where you are finding the corrosion. Are you saying that they have found corrosion on the wing spar in the wheel well area? Can you post a picture here? What king of corrosion (philiform, intergranular etc) is it? If it is at a lap joint, it most probably is residual stripper from the last or a previous paint job that did not get properly cleaned. Usually, Comanches do not suffer much from corrosion, but it can happen, especially where the paint and primer have been worn away.

Zach - Many thanks for your prompt reply. Here is the photo which has been taken sitting down facing forward in the wheel bay. I am of the opinion that the corrosion has been caused by lack of paint and primer over a considerable period of time. I am not sure what kind of corrosion it is but possibly you can form an opinion from the picture.
